Low Literacy Adults
A project from Take Action with Actioneer
Project focus area
16.9% of adults in Kansas have low literacy. Adults with low literacy skills are more likely to be below the poverty line, have less access to healthcare, and to not have a high school degree. Very few organizations in Wichita assist adult with their literacy skills.
Plan for action
Develop a reading program that recruits low literacy adults to attend an educational program through the library. The program will help adults with low literacy skills to increase their reading capabilities. This program will involve volunteers to help tutor participants.
