RISE Community Garden

Project focus area 

The contract for a contractor is being drafted by the City of Wichita after a round of bids were requested. The Steering Committee for the garden has met twice and spoke about the overarching project and an MOU in its first meeting and held a conversation with the Wichita Library Foundation about ongoing grants to support the garden during the second. The team will meet again to discuss building out volunteerism in the third meeting, and will continue to build out the planning infrastructure during the winter months before the garden construction project begins in spring.

Plan for action

The Steering Team will continue to build its knowledge and scope of the project in preparation for a spring build. The raised garden beds will be constructed as a community engagement project in March and staff are underway with plans for education programming.
