Notes
- 10 community members volunteered from June to October contributing approx. 35 volunteer hours.
- There were countless organic interactions between staff and residents in the garden or about the garden that have become a powerful form of community connection.
- Residents have expressed genuine joy in having access to fresh food.
- One resident visits weekly to pick vegetables for her salads.
- Another resident planted beets, corn, and other root vegetables in an empty bed and took initiative to weed other beds weekly.
- We activated a total of 10 garden beds with a wide variety of crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, eggplant, mini and green bell peppers, shishito peppers, jalapeños, tomatillos, squash, zucchini, basil, parsley, dill, and mint.
- Despite limited structure and technical expertise, the garden has become a valued, living community space that connects residents through food, shared work, and mutual support.
