Multiplying Fishes and Loaves

Project focus area

Offer cooking classes and kitchen items (Kitchen Restore) to help improve access to Food Bank foods and food opportunities for families, to offer learning opportunities on cooking methods that are affordable, not complicated and especially that help families to use time effectively.

Plan for action

Building on the Fishes & Loaves program, this alternative food system supports food-insecure families with cooking skills, DIY kits, and meals.

Demographics

Rural individuals, Persons with low income

Evidence

To date we have interacted with over 100 individuals with surveys to find what items individuals might want to learn to cook, what hardships they faced in cooking at home or for a family, what cooking devices might they need or want at home, would they be interested in attending a class.  Over 70 individuals indicated an interest in taking a class.  As well a number of people volunteered to help with classes or to donate cooking utensils and other items.

Progress

  1. Set your project focus and actions, who you’ll engage, and how you’ll measure success—plus a simple timeline. Submit this setup to kick off.
  2. Share what’s done, what you’re learning, and any course corrections. Note any support needs to stay on track.
  3. Summarize outcomes and evidence (reach, partnerships, dollars), key insights and barriers, and recommended next steps. Completing this closes your Actioneer project.
